After graduating from Northwest Missouri State University with a degree in Interactive Digital Media - Visual Imaging, I spent a year working in graphic design. After I moved to Kansas City, I had the opportunity to get to know businesses firsthand through advertising and media sales at the Kansas City Business Journal. From there I spent the next decade working in digital marketing.
In my personal time, I enjoy working out and spending time with my family. The past few years have allowed me to discover my inner strength. I’ve learned that life’s too short to not drink great wine, discover amazing new foods and travel the world with those I love most. Cheers!

Medicine is a language unto itself. Writers are explainers, storytellers, revealers of the truth.
In my first job out of college as a newspaper health writer and editor, one of the questions I frequently asked doctors was ‘How would you say this to a regular person, like me?’ I realized that being an explainer of the medical field was a skill. Every article was a chance to accurately convey medical information in a way that was compelling to an audience of non-biology majors.
This led me to earn my master’s degree in writing/editing from the University of Missouri School of Journalism with an emphasis in health, science, and environmental writing. I then worked in medical school public relations before spending the past nine years as a freelance writer, blogger, and social media consultant.
In 2018, alongside my physician husband, I helped launch a successful medical practice, Cornerstone Dermatology & Surgery Group. As I collaborated with Jessi to create online content and we began to grow our brand through social media and marketing, I knew I’d found a perfect niche. I'm now passionate to help other medical entrepreneurs grow their practices by creating online content and social presence that connects with their audience.
On a personal level, I’m that mom at the park in the wide-brimmed had with nine bottles of sunscreen in her purse. Making healthy food is my jam, and you’ll often find me trashing my kitchen with my latest recipe project, or throwing in the towel and exploring the amazing Kansas City food scene.

After graduating from the University of Missouri with a degree in journalism, I’ve spent my career telling stories. From my first job as an editor at a weekly trade newspaper for the fresh produce industry to my current one as a freelance writer and editor, I’ve learned there’s no better way to reach people than with your story. I enjoy telling other people’s stories through writing website copy, blog posts, articles and even books. I believe a well-told story is the best lead magnet and sales pitch available.
On the personal side of things, I love reading, writing novels and going on long walks with my family. I believe that we should all be proud of our own stories and think everyone should live by this quote from my favorite TV show: “We’re all stories in the end. Just make it a good one."

Years ago I was the design editor for my university's student newspaper. I would regularly "wake" from hours-long design trances to find it was midnight and I'd neglected all my homework. I had an early gifting and interest in art, but I was encouraged to pursue a "real" degree and eventually graduated with a Master’s in education.
After some soul searching and years of encouragement from my husband, I started taking art classes again, and found that getting back into the world of art and design was like putting on my favorite pair of jeans. It fit, and it made me look good. Ha! While I was pursuing fine arts like painting, I was also learning to build websites on the side. To my delight, I found that website design was a perfect fit for my skill sets. I'm good at organizing, and I have a strong sense of how to make things look good. I'm also good at listening to what clients want to communicate, and creating websites that reflect them and their businesses.
My husband and I live in the woods with two sons, four kitties, and one wily opossum named Phil. In our free time we like grow unusual woodland-based things like pawpaw trees and mushrooms.
